This is a photo of a bundle of paracord taken off the shelf in our warehouse. We pulled out the strands so you can see that our paracord has seven. If you look closely, you can see that each of the 100% nylon strands are made from two-ply yarns. This is certainly not the lower quality paracord that is made from bulk fibers.
Why is this important? Each of these strands are capable of holding 50 pounds. The outer cord is made from 32 strands which are braided together and can hold 200 pounds. Add it up (50x7 + 200) and the cord can hold 550 lbs, therefore it is truly 550 paracord.
High quality paracord like ours is:
- Manufactured to Mil-C-5040H Type III standards
- Made in the USA
- Made by US Government Contractors
- Has 7 100% nylon strands
- Has an outer sheath that is braided from 32 strands
- Rated for 550 lb static load
